Gina Carey

Gina Carey, a native of Columbia, Maryland, started her work in the behavioral health field at the age of sixteen during an internship with the Howard County Public School System. There she was instrumental in helping to educate both students and faculty about teen suicide prevention. Upon graduating Gina received an academic scholarship from Johns Hopkins University to attend the University of Mary Washington where she
earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. During her time in college, Gina volunteered on the children’s inpatient unit at Sheppard Pratt Hospital
in Maryland, and volunteered at the Kenmore Club through the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board. Shortly after graduation Gina became a Mental Health Worker at the Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, and later moved up to be a Discharge Coordinator on their Co-Occurring Unit. It was in this role that Gina was first exposed to
American Addiction Centers, and where she found value in utilizing AAC’s
Treatment Consultants to assist in finding the right treatment for the patients she worked with on a daily basis. In the spring of 2014, after four years at Sheppard Pratt, Gina relocated to Northern Virginia to manage an outpatient office, and shortly thereafter joined the AAC team as a Treatment Consultant serving the northern Virginia, DC, and southern Maryland region.
