Humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings.”

Perhaps the most important word in this step is humbly. To be humble is to be honest. It is to stay right-sized. Mother Theresa said “If you are humble nothing can touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know who you are.”

This is the acceptance of ourselves. If we are humble we are open to new ideas and new ways of seeing things. We realize we do not know it all, and that there is always more to learn.

If we can practice humility in our daily lives, we can continue to grow and become stronger in our recovery.
