The Joint Commission has awarded Laguna Treatment Hospital its Gold Seal of Approval®, an internationally-recognized symbol for healthcare quality. This distinction means the hospital has achieved accreditation by demonstrating its compliance with performance standards and commitment to provide safe and effective care.

Laguna Treatment Hospital is Orange County’s first chemical dependency recovery hospital. The 93-bed facility opened in June 2016. The hospital provides medical detox and residential treatment for adults struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction and a secondary mental health disorder or a medical condition such as diabetes or hypertension.

“Joint Commission accreditation is the gold standard in the healthcare industry, and to know that our hospital has achieved this is significant,” said Gil Carmona, Laguna Treatment Hospital CEO. “JCAHO accreditation means our clients and their families can trust they will receive the highest level of clinical care at our facility in a comfortable, hotel-like setting.”

To achieve accreditation the hospital had to undergo an extensive review process, including a rigorous onsite survey. During the review, compliance with behavioral healthcare standards related to several areas, including care, treatment, and services; environment of care; leadership; and screening procedures for the early detection of imminent harm.

“Joint Commission accreditation provides behavioral healthcare organizations with the processes needed to improve in a variety of areas related to the care of individuals and their families,” said Julia Finken, RN, BSN, MBA, CSSBB, CPHQ, Executive Director, Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission. “We commend Laguna Treatment Hospital for its efforts to elevate the standard of care it provides and to instill confidence in the community it serves.”

“I’m extremely proud of our hospital team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other staff who continually demonstrate their commitment to clinical excellence,” said Carmona.
