Transportation Assistance

At AdCare, we understand that not everyone has a car, and as a result transportation to AdCare facilities could be difficult. Could be, but it isn’t, as AdCare provides complimentary transportation to and from our facilities. Whether an AdCare driver meets you at a location or if AdCare provides you with funds for public transportation, you’ll be able to rest easy about transportation concerns.

Medical Capabilities

We understand that some patients may not require an inpatient stay but need assistance in withdrawing from pain medications, benzodiazepines and alcohol. AdCare’s Outpatient Detoxification Program in Worcester, MA, combines medical supervision during withdrawal with alcohol and drug treatment to enhance continued abstinence.

Our Staff & Credentials

At AdCare Outpatient Services, our highly-skilled masters-level clinicians work with patients to assess their individual needs and establish an appropriate treatment plan. All of our staff are trained in addiction treatment. Some of their specialties include trauma-informed therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and holistic approaches to addiction treatment. Approximately 50% of AdCare Outpatient direct patient-care staff are in recovery themselves, a hallmark to exemplify and model that recovery can be a way of life.

David W. Hillis, Jr., Vice President of Outpatient Operations

David W. Hillis, Jr., Vice President of Outpatient Operations, oversees the development of AdCare outpatient services clinics, located throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Hillis, who has worked in the healthcare field since 1988, has also served as Director of Outpatient Services and as an Outpatient Therapist at AdCare Hospital. He received a B.S. degree in Psychology and a M.S. degree in Psychology (Mental Health Counseling) from Salem State College. Hillis is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC-II), as well as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADC-I).

Mohammad Alhabbal, Medical Director

Mohammad Alhabbal, MD, is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) and the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), as well as a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). A graduate of the Damascus University Medical School in Damascus, Syria, Dr. Alhabbal completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Hospitalist Division. Dr. Alhabbal is also a family practitioner at 200 Lincoln Street Primary Care in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Georganna Koppermann, Vice President of Marketing and Community Services

Georganna “Georgie” Koppermann brings over 30 years of extensive experience in healthcare marketing, advertising and branding to her role as leader of community services. Koppermann contributes a uniquely approachable style of leadership and patient advocacy that are essential to AdCare’s formula for success. She is known for the pride that she takes in building strong relationships with clients, colleagues and vendors – attributes that help expand AdCare’s reputation of being a quality employer and provider.

The Joint Commission for Behavioral Health Care AdCare Outpatient Services are accredited by The Joint Commission for Behavioral Health Care, an internationally-recognized symbol of healthcare quality and the gold standard of care for the industry. This accreditation signifies that, through external, unbiased evaluation, we have met or exceeded The Joint Commission’s standards for providing addiction treatment for all of the levels of care offered at AdCare Outpatient Services, including ambulatory detox.

What to Expect

Prospective Patients

Tours are offered and encouraged during facility hours on a walk-in basis, or you can organize them with AdCare staff.

Arrival

AdCare’s admission process is designed for efficiency, meaning you can expect to begin treatment within 24 hours. The process begins after you contact with the admissions desk, generally via phone. After the admissions paperwork is complete, you’ll meet one-on-one with a counselor to determine a proper treatment track. Our admission process is quick and easy, and usually takes an hour or less to complete. AdCare is able to offer next day intake appointments.

For Families

Programming

AdCare offers a complimentary family program at all its outpatient satellites, designed to involve family and friends in their loved one’s recovery and to educate them about the disease of addiction and the nature of recovery.

There is one Family Informational Program per month per facility:

  • Quincy: 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
  • West Springfield: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.
  • Boston: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
  • Warwick: 1st Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
  • North Dartmouth: 4th Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.
  • Worcester: 4th Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Clinical Care

Individual Treatment

Depending on your level of care, you will participate in individual therapy for 50 minutes, 1 to 2 times a week. A variety of different treatment modalities are used, including but not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Relapse Prevention Treatment
  • 12-Step Focused Treatment
