When the daily newspaper serving Oxford, Mississippi, sought a cover image for its annual Good Health magazine, a therapist who helps people live healthy lives in recovery was the perfect fit.

Tori Ossenheimer, CTRS, coordinator of experiential services for Oxford Treatment Center, was featured on the cover of the Oct. 27 magazine. A story about her work appeared on The Oxford Eagle’s front page the same day.

“Mind, body, spirit — each of them needs healing as part of recovery from addition,” Ossenheimer said in the story. “In active addiction, drugs and alcohol are a way to shut off your feelings. In recovery, we’re learning new healthy coping skills and learning to feel again.”

For the photo shoot, Oxford Eagle photographer Bruce Newman visited the Etta campus, which is located 16 miles northeast of Oxford. Ossenheimer, a certified yoga instructor, is pictured in a scenic lakeside garden that is part of the center’s new 12-step walk.

Facilities for wellness and experiential therapy on the Etta campus include an equestrian center, fitness center, ropes course, labyrinth, private lake and vegetable garden. A new covered riding arena is currently under construction.
