In an op-ed for Healthcare Business Today, Sarah Chasteen, breathwork facilitator at Laguna Treatment Center, discusses the benefits of intentional breathing for those in recovery from addiction. Sarah, who is in recovery herself, counts breathwork as the first tool that really brought her immediate relief. “I felt empowered by it, and breathwork quickly became my go-to activity when I felt sad or angry or when I needed to connect with a power greater than myself,” she said. Sarah now teaches breathwork to patients at Laguna Treatment Center, giving them the skills they need to refocus, find calm, and soothe their nervous systems through breathing exercises.
