Recovery First Treatment Center’s outpatient program, located in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale metro area, offers both intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs), two forms of intensive outpatient care.
In the event of a relapse at any time post-treatment, we will provide qualified individuals with up to 30 days of treatment at no cost to you.*

In the PHP and IOP at Recovery First’s Hollywood outpatient facility, you may participate in several therapeutic and counseling activities in individual and group settings. These may include (but are not limited to):
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
In CBT, you work with clinicians to change dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors that lead to problematic alcohol or drug use and hinder recovery from your substance use disorder.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Practiced in individual and group settings, DBT aims to change negative behavior patterns and unhelpful thoughts through a variety of interventions such as mindfulness and emotional regulation techniques.
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
In MI, you work with your therapies to increase your internal motivation to change. The goal is to resolve ambivalence and grow your own desire for recovery.
Process Groups
These groups focus on different topics relevant to the participating individuals. Topics vary based on what is relevant to the group and may include issues such as conflict resolution, changing negative thoughts or behaviors, and healthy relationships. They tend to be smaller groups and may delve into more intense or personal topics, as well.
Specialized Groups
Sessions may be divided into subgroups such as those for men and women, or groups for Veterans and first responders, for instance. This allows discussions to focus on the needs and challenges of specific groups. Topics vary but may include:
- Relapse prevention.
- Triggers.
- Anxiety and depression.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
- Trauma, guilt, and shame.
- Pain management.
- Seeking Safety (a trauma-based therapy approach).
Family Therapy
Family therapy can be an essential part of your recovery. When spouses, partners, family members, children, and other loved ones understand your addiction and address complex family dynamics with you, they can better support you and reduce your risk of relapse.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation strives to teach you about substance use, treatment options, progression of the disease of addiction, signs and symptoms, long-term effects, myths and misconceptions, and more.
The PHP and IOPs at Recovery First may also include:
- Comprehensive medical evaluations of your physical and mental health.
- Treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
- Medication management (if necessary).
- Life skills training.
- 12-Step mutual-help groups.
- Nutrition planning.
- Life skills training.
- Alumni meetings.
