We Must Stop Stigmatizing Methadone, Says AdCare Rhode Island’s Medical Director

Methadone is a proven, effective and FDA-approved medication for the treatment of opioid use disorder. However, even after decades of successful use, it continues to misunderstood. The falsely held belief that any medication use negates a person’s sobriety, combined with numerous myths around how methadone is used in treatment, keeps this medication shrouded in stigma and misinformation.
