AAC Chief Digital and Marketing Officer Speaks on Regulating Addiction Treatment Marketing in Fierce Healthcare
Tennessee is Leading the Way to Regulate Addiction Treatment Marketing. It’s Time for the Rest of the Country to Catch Up.
By Stephen Ebbett, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer of American Addiction Centers
Tennessee is a national leader in healthcare innovation, research and delivery, with more than 400 healthcare organizations and 250,000 related jobs in the Nashville area alone. With new legislation that went into effect earlier this year, Tennessee again demonstrated leadership in the healthcare industry by protecting those seeking help for addiction from deceptive and misleading marketing.
America continues to face an addiction crisis. In the state of Tennessee alone, there were more than 1,700 fatal overdoses and nearly 23,000 inpatient and outpatient overdose visits last year. Now more than ever, it’s crucial that we help those suffering from addiction access quality and trusted treatment options.
Increasingly, the journey to recovery starts online. That’s why American Addiction Centers invests in understanding how those seeking treatment use digital channels to search for help. To help potential patients, we operate online directories in collaboration with treatment centers across the United States. Nashville-based Acadia Healthcare also offers online directories.
