Kaiser Permanente Insurance for Addiction Rehab in Hawaii

Kaiser Hawaii Plans
Kaiser Permanente offers various plans in Hawaii for individuals and families as well as coverage for Medicaid- and Medicare-eligible individuals.3
Plans for individuals and families include:4
- Copay plans. A simple copay plan means you pay for your care based on a copay or coinsurance schedule. There’s no deductible, but your monthly premium is higher.
- Deductible plans. With deductible plans, your monthly premium is lower but you’ll be responsible for the full cost of services until you reach your deductible for the year. After that, you’ll pay a copay or coinsurance.
- Virtual plans. Virtual plans offer lower costs for preventative and primary care when visits take place via a telehealth visit (virtual visits) versus an in-person visit.
- HSA-qualified plans. HSA-qualified plans are deductible plans with a health savings account (HSA) to pay for health costs like copays, coinsurance, and deductible payments. Additionally, you don’t pay federal income taxes on funds that go into the HSA, and you can also use HSA funds at any time to pay for care, including for services that may not be covered by your plan such as eyeglasses or some dental procedures. Any HSA funds not used at the end of the year roll over to the next year.
- Catastrophic plans. Catastrophic plans aren’t available in all markets and are only available to individuals under the age of 30 or those over 30 with a hardship exemption. Catastrophic plans have very high deductibles and low monthly premiums and only cover limited preventive services until you meet the deductible.
Plans through Kaiser Permanente are organized into coverage levels—known as metal tiers and include:4
- Bronze. Kaiser’s bronze plans offer the lowest monthly premium but have the highest deductible and out-of-pocket costs. This level may be a good option for healthy people who rarely visit the doctor and want an affordable way to protect themselves in case of injury or illness.
- Silver. Silver plans have moderate monthly premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs. This level may be a good option for generally healthy people who are willing to pay a little more each month for lower out-of-pocket expenses when they do need care.
- Gold. Gold plans have higher monthly premiums but lower deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. This level may be a good option for those with dependents or individuals who use healthcare services regularly throughout the year.
- Platinum. Platinum plans have the highest monthly premiums but the lowest deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. This level may be a good choice for people with known health conditions who need frequent specialty care, tests, and prescriptions.
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii also offers Medicaid and Medicare plans. Medicaid is a state and federal program that provides health coverage for low-income individuals. Medicare is a federal program that provides healthcare to those aged 65 and older and to people who have certain disabilities.5
