Referring Patients to Rehab: A Guide for Medical Professionals & Hospitals
Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals understand the importance of evidence-based substance use disorder treatment and can play a vital role in helping patients begin rehab. However, the process of referring patients to addiction treatment is often frustrating and cumbersome.
Here, we’ll go over everything you need to know about referring your patients to American Addiction Centers (AAC) for substance use disorder treatment.
How Does the Referral Process Work With AAC?
Our streamlined referral process can easily help your patients enroll in addiction treatment. After we verify your patient’s benefits, an AAC admissions navigator will handle insurance company logistics and help find a treatment facility that meets the patient’s clinical and financial needs.
Call or complete the form at the bottom of this page, and a local outreach coordinator will get back to you.
Types of Addiction Treatment We Offer
AAC facilities offer a full continuum of addiction care. We work closely with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan designed to help them get sober and continue to support their recovery long after they leave our facility. We consistently evaluate and adjust our approach as the patient’s needs evolve.
Levels of care offered at AAC facilities include:1,2
- Medical detox: Our medical detox programs help patients get through acute withdrawal as safely and comfortably as possible while they prepare for continued treatment.
- Inpatient or residential rehab: With inpatient treatment, patients receive around-the-clock care and a structured routine as they develop the skills they’ll need for lasting sobriety. Many patients can benefit from inpatient care, especially those with severe addictions, co-occurring disorders, and unstable living conditions.
- Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs): PHPs are the most intensive level of outpatient care. Patients in our PHPs must attend the facility a minimum of 5 days a week in 6-hour session blocks.
- Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs): Patients in our IOPs attend treatment 3 or more days a week, developing skills to support their long-term recovery through behavioral therapy, peer support, and other interventions.
- Standard outpatient care: Standard outpatient care affords patients the most flexibility in terms of scheduling. Treatment involves individual therapy, group therapy, and 12-Step peer support.
- Sober living. Many of our patients benefit from living in one of our Resolutions Sober Living facilities while enrolled in outpatient treatment. Sober living provides a safe, supportive environment for patients in early recovery as they transition out of treatment.
We also recognize that the hard work of recovery is just beginning when our patients leave treatment, and we work closely with each patient to create a personalized aftercare plan to set them up for continued success.
Why Choose American Addiction Centers?
At American Addiction Centers, our team is here to help your patients get the supportive, encouraging, evidence-based treatment they need for lasting recovery. And with locations across the country, our treatment facilities are easily accessible.
AAC facilities utilize a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions within individualized treatment plans, including medications for substance use disorder, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and more. All of our facilities are equipped to treat patients with co-occurring disorders.
We believe in what we do, and we’re proud to offer the American Addiction Centers 90-Day Promise. If a client relapses after spending 90 consecutive days in one of our inpatient or outpatient programs, we welcome them back for an additional 30 days of treatment, free of charge.
AAC accepts many major insurers and is part of the VA’s Community Care Network (CCN). We also offer financing options and believe that cost should never stop a patient from getting treatment.
