Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio Insurance for Rehab
How Much Does Rehab Cost with Anthem BCBS of Ohio?
The cost of alcohol rehab when using Anthem BCBS of Ohio depends on several factors, including the type of treatment program you enroll in, as well as the specifics of your individual Blue Cross Blue Shield health plan.
For example, inpatient or residential treatment programs typically cost more than outpatient programs, as food, lodging, and other amenities are included in the cost of the treatment program.
With most BCBS Ohio insurance plans, you can expect to be responsible for some out-of-pocket costs. When undergoing addiction treatment patients may be charged:5,6,7
- A yearly deductible. Your deductible is a fixed amount per year you have to pay towards covered services before your health insurance plan will begin to pay.
- A copayment or copay. This is a predetermined, fixed dollar amount that you are required to pay toward covered medical insurance. For example, you may be charged $30 at each visit to an outpatient clinic. Copayment amounts vary by plan; insurance policies with a higher monthly payment will often have a lower copay. Copayments do not count toward your deductible.
- Co-insurance. Many insurance policies charge patients a co-insurance rate. Instead of paying a fixed dollar amount each visit, coinsurance is a percentage of the total cost of treatment. For example, if the co-insurance rate for a service is 20%, Anthem BCBS would cover the remaining 80%.
Health insurance plans also typically have an out-of-pocket maximum, which is the most you will have to pay in a calendar year. Once you spend this much for in-network medical care, your insurance plan will pay all remaining costs. This means no more copayments or co-insurance percentages. Out-of-pocket limits do not apply to monthly premiums or out-of-network services.8
Before enrolling in an addiction treatment program, it’s always a good idea to verify your insurance benefits and find an alcohol rehab center that is in-network with your insurance provider. Choosing an in-network provider typically means you will pay less out-of-pocket.
