
Dr. Thomas Britton
About
Dr. Thomas Britton is the CEO of American Addiction Centers—one of the nation’s largest treatment providers specializing in substance use disorder treatment. This honor and achievement is preceded not only by his 30 years of contributions in the field of behavioral health, but in his ability to guide organizations and communities with compassion and science due to his personal history with addiction and recovery.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Dr. Britton received his doctorate in Public Health/Executive Management, two masters’ degrees respectively in Addiction Counseling and in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University, and a bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Britton has been published in the North Carolina Medical Journal, serves as an advisory member to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and is both a board member and member of the executive committee of the Illinois Association of Behavioral Health.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Thomas Britton has lived by the following unwavering belief: “All people hold the innate potential to improve their lives and the lives of those around them.” He leads with compassion, knowledge, and experience.
